The New Year is probably one of my favorite times. You have new gifts to use, new goals to set and a fresh slate to do so.
Its also a time to reflect on the past year and all that has happened. Its crazy to think about how much can change in a year and how quickly it goes by.
2018 was a really good year for me. It was definitely a year of growth and insight. I wouldn’t say it was all easy or good, but nothing worth having ever is. It was a year of many firsts, and many celebrations.
Here is a look at the big events in my life in 2018
My Bridal Shower
My mom threw my bridal shower at my parents house on January 27th. I had so much fun. We had a date night theme, where the gifts where date nights Garrett and I could use after the wedding. We got spoiled! My mom had such a nice set up of appies and drinks and we played some games.
My Justice of the Peace Wedding
Garrett and I got married in Mexico, but opted to do the justice of the peace here at home first. We didn’t want to pay the extra cost, have blood taken, or have to deal with getting our papers sent home to us after. Also, my grandma couldn’t make my wedding in Mexico, and so it was extra special that she could be with us on that day, and be the witness on our marriage certificate.
My Bachelorette Party
My MOH Andrea planed by Bachelorette party and it was a blast. We first went to her house where we had a bunch of food and played games. The ladies all bought me lingerie. We then went bowling. It was pretty uneventful, nobody got trashed, or did anything stupid, but it was a really good time.
All Inclusive Wedding (Feb 27-March 6th)
We went to the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda for our wedding. It was the most memorable and best time I have had to date. We had the best group of friends join us, my family, Garrett’s family. The weather was perfect, the food was good and we did tons of bonding. There were also funny things that happened like all the boys getting to drunk and falling asleep at the bar, Garrett’s little brother doing mating calls to women 5 ft from him, and one of Garrett’s friends thought it would be funny to do a fire extinguisher prank on another couple…. turned out… it wasn’t funny. Garrett and I had the swim up suite, and got tons of extra perks like access to the spa for being the bride and groom. I would def go back!
Our wedding Day
Garrett and I got married on March 2nd in the afternoon. It was the funnest day of my life. My bridesmaids all met in my room at around noon and then Garrett went to one of the groomsmen’ rooms to get ready. We had a great wedding coordinator, and everything went so smoothly. We got married right on the beach. We had a steak dinner after and a dance party on the beach. The next morning we had breakfast in bed. A dream come true!
Our honeymoon in Bermuda (April 10-19th)
Garrett and I went to Bermuda for our honeymoon. We wanted to go somewhere we had never been and were okay with spending some extra money for this once in a lifetime experience. You only have one honeymoon! Bermuda was amazing. We rented an Air B & B right on the Harrington Sound, which had a dock right out to the water and our own private beach. We saw so much sea life. We did tons of walking, and site seeing. We exercised and meditated, and talked about life. It was one of the coolest places I have ever been – if not a bit scary being in the middle of the ocean with nothing surrounding us!
Ty and Kayla’s Wedding
Garrett was best man in his buddy Tyler’s wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. They had a rehearsal dinner that looked like it was out of a magazine. The wedding was at the Bessborough in downtown Saskatoon. It was so nice to see Kayla and Ty so happy.
Moved business locations
We moved our entire business from downtown Saskatoon to the north industrial. It was a smart business move, and we are happier here. The move was ALOT of work. Our old location had so much junk built up over the years, so we did a real garbage haul. It felt nice to declutter. It was also fun to move into a new location and have a fresh start.
Bought my Mercedes GLK 250
I have wanted one for sooo long. It was basically my dream car that I never though I would have. When my Lincoln started giving me problems, we looked at trade ins, and found a pretty good deal, so I was allowed to buy it. I was so happy hubby was fine with us spending the extra money.. Happy wife, happy life they say 🙂
Trip to Calgary
Garrett and I went to Calgary over September long for a little road trip. We brought our pup Jax along too, we cant go anywhere without him. He even stayed in the hotel with us 🙂 It was a fun trip. Garrett purchased a vehicle he is planning on selling later, we did some shopping, ate at some really good restaurants and spent some quality time together.
Finished basement suite
We finally got our basement suite all finished! We worked really hard on it, and got it done in about 10 days. New floors, floor boards, paint, painted kitchen cupboards and tons of cleaning. I am pretty happy about the finished result. It is grey and white to match our upstairs and def adds value to the house.
Little brother moved in
Little brother moved in to the basement suite on November 1st. Its nice for us as we weren’t putting the basement to use, and he is now out on a place of his own. We haven’t had any one living with us for a while now, so I thought it would be an adjustment, but its been really good.
December was busy and full of Christmas like every year! Last Christmas we actually didn’t do anything with my family as they all went to Phoenix to visit my Dad over Christmas. This year we had both Garrett’s mom and dads houses and then my parents so it was a busy but good time!
Tonight I am snuggling up with Garrett and our pups to eat some delicious food, reminisce on this past year, set goals for how I want to spend this next year, and enjoy all the blessings that I have been given in 2018.
I have a feeling 2019 is going to be a good year.
What are your goals for 2019?
Happy New Year!
